Can music change people's life?

Is there any song that can get you to totally forget about what you're doing and just sing along? Or is there a song that breaks you into tears just every time you listen to it? Or is there any song that keeps you motivated when you're procrastinating?

Everyone has his/her own musical taste, some like it hot, some like it slow, some like it smooth, some like it disturbing. Well I'm virtually up to every genre except COUNTRY music. No offense but it's really not my 'thing'. The late Buddy Rich (prolly the best drummer ever lived) once been asked by a nurse if he's allergic to anything. He replied: "Yes, country music!"

Well here's my favourites of 2008 :-


Jay Chou
I bet all of my friends know me well enough to know that i'm a big fan of Jay Chou. His songs are simply irresistable and his talents are unbeatable. His rap tracks, love ballads, zhongguofengs are just the best in Mandarin pop scene right now. (call me biased or something, after all i only listen to Jay's music when it comes to Chinese) One special feature of all his songs is that he never used a single English word in the lyrics. Probably Vincent Fang doesn't study English much, but that's one of the many things which makes his songs special and full of soul. Latest album is great, tho i don't really fancy those 'magic' stuffs, i guess deep down he's still a kid who doesn't like underwears. LOL. Favourite songs are : 搁浅 and白色风车. Actually all his songs have been my favourite!

Yui
She's cute, super cute. She rarely smiles in videos and covers coz she thinks she'll look chubby XD Here's some pics of her :


My dream girl~~~~~
Her songs are ...umm, inspiring i guess. They are mainly based on guitars and most of the songs sound nice when played acoustic. Also a big talent, she wrote all her songs. 3 albums so far and they sold quite big in Japan. Anyone who never heard of this girl should definitely check her out. You'll be amazed. And she's like 22 or something. Favourite songs are: Merry Go Round, Happy Birthday To You You, and Tokyo, etc.


Secondhand Serenade

Secondhand Serenade is actually a project made by John Vesely(the guy in pic) and it's not a band. His songs are mainly acoustic rock, and yeah he's writing all his songs too. I only fall for singer-composers. =] I 1st got attracted to him when i listened to my sis' MP3 and his super strong vocal killed me instantly! Anyone can really relate to his songs and connect. He's really great with just a guitar and his voice. Favourite songs are: Vulnerable, Fall For You, I Hate This Song.


Coldplay
If you wonder what kind of songs change my life, it's Coldplay music. I always thought Britpops are lame but Coldplay showed otherwise. I mean, every song from Coldplay is so full of soul and finely arranged, you can get addicted to them. Their songs appear most in my mind this year. Chris Martin's amazing voice with his wonderful falsetto haunts my head. They said their music is like 'very heavy soft rock'. Couldn't agree more. Here's a pic :-

It's really cool just spending time to intepret their songs, the lyrics are metaphorically beautiful and the melodies can make your head spin. (no kidding) They're really brilliant. Too bad they're gonna split ways by the end of next year. But i'm still Coldplay's biggest fan in Butterworth anyway! Viva!
Favourite songs: The Scientist, Viva la Vida, Yellow, Amsterdam, Fix You, In My Place, Shiver, Speed of Sound, Clocks.
