nothing much happened today, i guess i'm gonna talk bout the last non-exam book i read before SPM.
Stephen Hawking : Quest for a Theory of Everything
This book is mainly about his life and his work on the field of Theoretical Physics. In case you're wondering who's Hawking, he's the character parodied in the film Superhero Movie, only the one in the movie uses more 'sexual' languages.
Hawking was no prodigy when he was still a kid. When he enrolled in Oxford, his genius mind got him much popularity in the compound. Well he seemed kinda cocky to me cuz he told the author that he didn't even study for the tests but still able to score higher than most students at the time. (That's what i love about this guy!) Later , he left Oxford for Cambridge for he was more interested in theoretical physics.
Soon after he entered Cambridge, he contracted a rare disease for which there is no known cure, 'amyotrophic lateral sclerosis. It causes disintegration of nerve cells in the spinal cords. Eventually every muscle cells disintegrates except his brain. For some this seems like a certain death, as patients can't speak or move, but for Hawking it somewhat turns into an advantage for him, because Cambridge made an exception for him to have a nurse in his office. He didn't have to manage all the documents like all other professors did. So he can think about his science all day long 24/7
I'm not gonna talk bout his works here, but the thing i'm impressed bout this guy is his persistency and stubborn. i can't imagine how life would be for me if i get a disease like his in my 20s. Hawking's doctor even told him he had only two years to live. But he's still alive to this day, and he's still the Lucasian Professor of Mathematics(which previously held by Sir Isaac Newton) in Cambridge. He had a family and three children, thou he's divorced and married to his nurse(wtf?!).
Zzz...i actually have a lot to express but i'm short of words, duh.
Btw, congratz to Wooi Fun for beating me in the Game. (which is kinda pointless)
